Cash payments remain a popular option even with today's advanced technology abilities. Self-service checkouts that accept banknotes and coins are widely used, and customer-focused retailers look for reliable and long-lasting solutions. Recognizing this, the largest retail leader in the Baltic States, "Maxima," is updating and expanding their self-service checkouts to modernize the cash payment experience.
Many customers who visit shopping centers prefer to pay with cash. This choice can be due to the availability of this payment method, as using cash does not rely on the bank card system. Privacy needs or financial habits also influence this decision. According to "Maxima," about a third of their customers currently use self-service checkouts to pay with cash.
"The ability to pay with cash is still important for almost half of the customers in our stores. Therefore, we want to provide the best shopping experience for those who choose this payment method," says Tomas Bazys, Director of IT Maintenance Department at "Maxima LT."
Technology Helps Avoid Human Factor Mistakes
Recent trends and customer habits show that cash payments are still popular. This method is often linked to mistakes caused by human factors, such as counting banknotes and coins, checking their authenticity, and recounting cash at the beginning and end of the day. It is challenging for cashiers to avoid mistakes completely. Automated cash processing machines check the authenticity of banknotes during payment, eliminating the risk of accepting fake money. This advanced equipment ensures safe money handling, eliminates human mistakes, and saves employee time. These technologies in cash processing ensure a reliable, safe, and efficient payment process.
Faster Payments
"Maxima" installs advanced "Glory" machines known for their efficiency, reliability, and user-friendly design. These machines optimize the cash payment process, reducing waiting times and improving the overall shopping experience. The highly efficient "Glory" machines can serve two checkouts, optimizing the number of devices needed in the store. "The installed solution ensures reliable operation and quick customer service," says T. Bazys. The compact design of the cash processing machines ensures high-quality customer service for both banknotes and coins.
"Maxima Self-Service Checkout Upgrades and Support Services
During this long-term project, the advanced cash payment solution will be implemented in almost all stores in the retail network. Regarding their collaboration with "Hansab," T. Bazys adds, "We feel that we have a partner focused on results, not just a supplier." The "Hansab" company, which provides services for the installed equipment, will ensure maintenance. With a service network located in 5 of Lithuania's largest cities, we can respond quickly to emergencies and restore the equipment's smooth operation within one working day upon arrival at the required location.
Upgrading self-service checkouts with modern cash payment equipment will ensure a smooth shopping experience for "Maxima" customers and guarantee the freedom to choose their preferred payment method. We appreciate the trust and are grateful for the cooperation from the start of the project to the completed installations in the shopping centers.
