Humanoid Pepper in the new Telia head office
Hansab brings an innovative customer registration and space management system to Telia’s new headquarters opening at Mustamäe tee 3. The use of the system by the customers will be assisted by the humanoid robot Pepper.
Telia’s new headquarters are unlike any typical office environment. An activity-based office will be set up so that each person can choose where and with whom to work at a particular moment in time. This is why a fast, simple and automated customer registration and space management system is particularly important.
In the customer area, the social communication robot Pepper will help welcome the customers, make the registrations and notify the employees of incoming customers. In the future, extra functions are planned to be added to Pepper so that the artificial assistant would entertain the customers and provide information about Telia’s products to those who are interested, and all this in Telia’s branches across Estonia as well.
Pepper is unique in the Baltic States. “It is obvious that robotics is becoming a part of our lives, so we at Hansab are aiming to develop this direction on our domestic markets. We are currently focusing on the improvement of customer experience and Pepper was the first logical step on this road. Solutions like this help facilitate certain business processes,“ said Priit Ivanov, Innovation Manager at Hansab Group. He adds that humanoid robots are not used to replace human labour. “Robots help us make our services more efficient. We still need to have people, but they can then focus on more complex tasks”.
Manufactured by Softbank Robotics, Pepper is the first robot able to identify human emotions and manner of speaking and choose the communication style correspondingly. The main domains where Pepper is currently used are office administration, product presentation at shops, check-in assistance at airports, queue management systems and entertainment. In addition to business-related domains, Pepper is also popular as a domestic entertainer. To date, Softbank Robotics has sold more than 10,000 Pepper robots and the robot is used by more than 2,000 companies across the world.
