Currency detectors

When the euro was physically put into circulation as bank notes and coins in 2002, the European Central Bank was confident about their being non-counterfeitable. At that time, the euro bills were described as the most secure in the world, with various holograms and special printing ink to prevent counterfeiting. But those secrets have since then been unlocked by European counterfeiters. The recent years have brought an increasing number of discovered euro counterfeits with significantly improved quality; visual inspection cannot distinguish genuine money from counterfeit. We recommend always using currency detectors for inspecting bank notes.
