The concept of smart cities, where traditional services are made more efficient with digital solutions is also finding its way to Latvian towns.
The town of Iecava has installed its first solar smart bench in the bus station area.
Power up and charge
The Steora Classic bench is designed to replace ordinary street benches. Its main features are built-in solar panels on the backrest and armrests, fast wireless charging that supports all phones, watches and headsets that have a wireless charging function. USB fast charging is also available for Apple, Qualcomm and Samsung devices.
The bench is equipped with a heating system that heats the bench during the cold winter months.
Gain data-driven insights
The bench has built-in sensors that collect information about the number of users, the amount of data consumed, air quality, temperature, pressure, and humidity, as well as the noise range.
These data are available to the specialists of the Iecava Association administration in a special application where data is monitored and collected.
Also, the bench is equipped with a real-time GPS that will send an online alarm if the bench location is changed.
The bench at Iecava bus station was installed with the support of the Insurance company AAS Balta and Iecava association administration.
"When we were invited to get involved in the idea of creating a smart bench in Iecava, we were inspired by its goal - to make life easier for people with a simple but at the same time creative solution," says Ivars Noviks, Sales Manager of AAS Balta Central Latvia.
The company is happy to support various urban activities, take part in events, and is open to some unconventional initiatives.
Our company's mission is: "With real care, we create simple solutions for unforeseen moments in life."
We have seen how our focus on people's convenience aligns with this city initiative, so we are excited to be able to add value to its implementation. We hope that the Iecava inhabitants will be happy to try this smart bench, and it will become a favorite place to relax and meet,” said I. Noviks.
