The Continental factory is equipped with an innovative solution for topping up employee cards

In 2019 the largest car electronic components factory Continental officially opened its doors in Kaunas Free Economic Zone (Kaunas FEZ). The premises of the new factory occupy 22,000 square meters and consist of industrial, administrative, and storage facilities. Due to the extremely large factory area, Continental was looking for a convenient and innovative solution to manage the flow of employees and guests in the restaurant and speed up the payment process. Originally a lot of time was wasted because employees had to go to their lockers to pick up their wallets for lunch, and then repeat the trip back to their lockers before returning to work. Therefore, the main goal of the solution is to save employees’ time and allow factory employees to fill in their access control cards and pay for food and coffee at the restaurant.
To implement the solution, Continental approached Dussmann with technical specifications. For the implementation of the solution, Dussmann approached Hansab as a technology partner and offered to produce 2 terminals specifically for Continental's needs and requirements. The main components of the terminals are the Pyramid display with an integrated computer (Polytouch 24) and Glory cash handling equipment (CI-10). During the project, the software was developed that was integrated with the existing cash register software used in the factory.
Employees can top up their passcards using cash or debit cards. All they have to do to pay is to add their card to the scanner at checkout. The equipment also works with guest cards, which factory visitors can top up and use at the restaurant. Thanks to the solution, the processes of the restaurant in the factory are optimized and the time of both the employees and guests - significantly saved.
